On may 2nd 2007, the joint security station where I was living and working was attacked by Katusha rockets. One of them came in the wall where i was sleeping and knocked me off my bunk and threw me to the ground. The explosion severed both of my legs and as a result they were both amputated above the knee. Shortly after my amputation surgeries, I was flown to Germany where I went through numerous surgeries to clean the infections that came from my open wounds in Iraq. Eventually I made in to Fort Sam Houston's Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio where I continued my recuperation. I continue to attend the Center for the intrepid where I am learning how to walk with prosthetic legs. I live here with my wife Jenette and Daughter Isabella who just turned 7 months old. I am 26 yrs old and I have been in the army for 4 years and 4 months. SGT Eric Horton
