Hello my name is Sgt.Ron Portillo Sr. I am the founder for Canines for Combat Wounded. I was sent to Falluja Iraq earlyer this year. On March 13,2007 I was on a search and rescue mission looking for downed Marines taking fire. We had to go on blacked out streets to find these Marines and all we had was a grid to look for them. We were finally off the road and came to a little reveen. The 2 vehicles went before me and then it was my turn. Just as I was comming down the little slope the IED hit our vehicle. The Iraqis were watching us the whole time and command detonated the bomb. Where I had been wounded. I was then medivaced to the hospital in Bahgdad then to Landsthul Germany and finally Brooke Army Medical Center ,Texas were I under go rehab now. I have sufferd a tramatic brain injury, loss of regular speach ,and some damaged limbs. I am one of the lucky ones
